Keeping lucrative freelance writing contracts

When you start your freelancing job, it doesn’t mean that the hiring stage has ended. Instead, you had just entered a level wherein your writing abilities will be measured. One wrong turn, and you may lose the contract. You have to be careful not to disappoint your client.

There are four methods on how to keep your freelance writing work:

1. Check your facts

This is the most important aspect when writing your articles, simply because you are paid to write. You have to make sure you gather all information before you start your article and see to it that they are not false data. You don’t want to risk your writing job for that false information that you had gathered.

2. Avoid errors in your work

Your client did not hire you to keep them busy editing your articles. So if possible, your articles should be error-free. They hired you because they knew that you had the potential and skills of a good writer; or else, they wouldn’t waste their money and time on you. So before you pass your articles, read it over and over and check for possible errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuations.

3. Originality

We all know that our clients will have full ownership of the articles that we produced. So if you just simply copied them from your sources, the tendency would be to commit plagiarism. That’s the very thing that they hated the most. They may fire you right on the spot for that. So always remember to keep your articles as original as possible. If you have a reference, don’t forget to rephrase, reword, or revise.

4. Never miss a deadline

We all procrastinate once in a while. The result would be either you will be missing deadlines, or you will be rushing your articles at the last minute. It’s okay to miss deadlines once in a blue moon. But if you’re always missing deadlines, you are really jeopardizing your job. The next thing you’ll know, your client is already looking for someone else to replace you.

These are just some of the important things to keep in mind. They may sound so simple; but hey, they need a lot of determination, patience, and skills. So if you got what it takes to be a freelance writer, just follow these methods, and you will never disappoint your client.
